Chilli   ( Capsicum annum L )

Chilli plants are both annuals and biennials. They are grown as houseplants and perennials as well as ornamental plants. The plant requires irrigation at regular intervals. These plants are incredibly easy to look after. Chilli plants are easy to grow and as long as they receive plenty of moisture and nutrients, are not subjected to cold and receive plenty of sunshine. These plants are available in various varieties and colours, right from small round cherry peppers to long, pencil-shaped cayenne varieties.

Capsaicin is a safe and effective analgesic agent in the management of arthritis pain, herpes zoster-related pain, diabetic neuropathy, postmastectomy pain, and headaches. Red chillis contain high amounts of vitamin C and carotene (provitamin A). Yellow and especially green chillis (which are essentially unripe fruit) contain a considerably lower amount of both substances. In addition, peppers are a good source of most B vitamins, and vitamin B6 in particular. They are very high in potassium and high in magnesium and iron. Their high vitamin C content can also substantially increase the uptake of non-heme iron from other ingredients in a meal, such as beans and grain.
